Doug Murray, President/COO

As a multi-national award winning Producer and Director, for Live Events, Video Productions and Televison Specials, Doug Murray leads the way for production at Murray Media!

BIO

Doug Murray has an extensive background that has allowed him to flourish in today’s entertainment and media business. While attending Baylor University, Doug found himself in the press box serving as a play-by-play broadcaster for both Baylor football and baseball games, at the schools student-run radio station. He further received hands-on training in editing, writing and producing, while working on a local Friday night High School Football Show that aired across Central Texas. That led to a BA degree in Broadcast Communications and the opportunity to become involved in the production of several more video and broadcast projects.

From there, it was on to work with Pinnacle/Donruss Brands Trading Cards of Dallas, as a Project Manager of creative product development, in the National Football League and National Hockey League divisions.  Doug played a major role in the company, with his products helping to generate over $100 million plus in sales, while overseeing one of the highest grossing individual products in the sports trading card market. He would also be involved in the contract negotiations of several well-known entertainers and professional athletes.

After almost four years with Pinnacle/Donruss Brands, Doug moved on and became part of the sports marketing team at Genesco Sports Enterprises, working on sports and entertainment sponsorships and promotions. He worked in all facets of the on-site promotions business, along with becoming the Manager of Sponsorships for its Pepsi-Cola sports business. Doug helped execute talks on contract negotiations through his building of an all “search and find”  inventory management computer system.

While continuing a relationship with Genesco Sports, Doug officially entered the video/film production business. He initially collaborated on an award-winning, World War II Documentary, in the role of executive producer. After the documentary was recognized at several film festivals, it lead Doug to start 7 Sky Productions and Talent Representation, bringing together video production, event A/V services and a talent agency division. Doug subsequently left Genesco Sports, but retained them as one of his initial clients and still does business with them to this day.

After being on his own for a couple years, midway through 2005, Doug joined forces with his father, two-time Emmy award winner, 17-times named Sports Broadcaster of the year, and former NBC-5 TV anchor, Scott Murray, and the two created Murray Media. The new company was to focus on corporate, marketing, sports, charitable and promotional videos, plus local and National Event A/V production. Today, that remains true, while Doug still serves as President/COO, in addition to continuing his
work producing, directing and heading up all production business for Murray Media. Under his leadership, Doug and Murray Media have won 19 National Video and Event Production Awards, with many more hopefully in the near future..

Doug and Murray Media currently have several videos and live A/V events in production, along with producing/directing its second season of the monthly FYI/FW TV Show, piloting many new documentary projects and raising money on it’s first major feature film, entitled “The Perfect Hero: The Doak Walker Story.” Doug is leading the charge for Murray Media, by looking to produce the story of legendary SMU hero, Heisman Trophy winner and Pro Football Hall of Fame Inductee, Doak Walker. The film will strive to be in the same category of such great sports films as Rudy, Hoosiers and Miracle. This is to be a story and film as big as the great city of Dallas!

Doug further remains busy in his community as a volunteer of many non-profit efforts, including serving on the Young Leadership Board of Gilda’s Club, helping to raise awareness and offer support to patients and families dealing with cancer, and serving on the Executive Board of the Pat and Emmitt Smith Foundation, among others. Professional groups include the Dallas Producers Association, the Texas Association of Film and Tape Producers and the MAC Professionals + Artists Collective.
